How Much Food Do I Feed My Pomeranian?
My Pomeranian weighs only about 5 lbs. How much food do I feed my Pomeranian? He doesn’t seem to eat enough, only about a cup of food a day.
Poms as you know can range from 3 pounds to 12, however some have been found to be 18 pounds! At 5 pounds, you Pom is a normal, good weight. You can see that at http://www.petpom.com. Portions and feeding times will depend on your Pomeranian’s age, metabolism, activity level and a variety of other factors. All Pomeranians will eat diferent amounts, but there are some simple rules to follow: Growing puppies need about one half to one ounce of dry, premium dog food per pound of body weight every day. This is distributed throughout 3 to 4 meals, depending on the age of the puppy.
Adult dogs need less: One fourth to one – half ounce of dry dog food per pound of body weight every day. Adult dogs can usually eat just one meal per day.
In addition to the dry dog food, a small amount of canned dog food can be added. If you are using quality dry and canned food, a good ratio is 2/3 dry and 1/3 canned. Make sure to bring your Pom to his vet for regular check ups and you have nothing to worry about.
